Expert System

A software system that determines an optimum solution based on pre-determined rules. The solution may be finding an optimum production schedule, most desirable demand plan, or best forecast. For a forecast, for example, the expert system first automatically selects the best model for a given dataset based on models embedded in the system and the criteria established for determining the best model, and then uses it to prepare a forecast.
